Boise Bonsai Society
Category: Clubs Also called: BBS; Boise Bonsai Society (Idaho); boisebonsai.com Last checked: 2026-10-13
What it is
The Boise Bonsai Society (BBS) is a bonsai club for the greater Boise, Idaho area. Its home page describes “a group of dedicated bonsai enthusiasts” whose goal is “to educate both our members and the general public” in bonsai, and says, “Our club holds bonsai workshops, collecting trips, and annual shows throughout the year. All levels of ability are welcome!” It is a membership club, not a shop or a paid class.
Who it’s for
Treasure Valley (Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Star) growers at any level. Beginners can join the club’s Barb Gough Bonsai Academy class series, and advanced members bring their own trees to “Deep Dive” workshops.
Why it’s listed
This is the plaza’s first Idaho listing. The club publishes its own dated schedule, with venues, times and agendas, plus an email and phone contact.

Notes
- Category is Clubs: a member-run society with workshops, shows and a beginners’ academy.
- Oct 17 is a members’ auction and picnic, not a lesson. The Nov 14 Fall Show is the better first visit for the public.
- Data quirks: the event’s title on the High Desert Bonsai page reads “Boise Bonsai Society Summer Workshop,” while the club’s own page calls it “Club Auction & Picnic.” The same HDB page also shows a stray “Oct 10th – Club Auction & Picnic” line. This card follows the club’s own schedule (Oct 17).
- Dues not stated on the pages checked. Ask the club.
- This was the Monday Clubs alternate (Oct 17 and Nov 14 dates were confirmed again today). Idaho is not in VA/AL/IL (Mon) or TX/IA/AZ (Fri).
- Listing image: the club’s own logo (
bbsLogo-l.png, the site’s og:image and header logo), 623×629, saved asboise-bonsai-society-logo.png. - Not affiliated with Bonsai Plaza. No contact was made.
