What it is
The Central Oklahoma Bonsai Society (COBS) is a bonsai club in Oklahoma City. Its home page says that on “Thursday, April 16, 1987 the first state registered public bonsai club in Oklahoma was born.” The About page says the club registered with Oklahoma’s Secretary of State as a non-profit, joined the Oklahoma City Garden Council, and found its permanent meeting home at the Will Rogers Garden Exhibition Building. Its purpose is “to promote the knowledge, interest, appreciation and enjoyment of bonsai through monthly meetings.” It is a membership club, not a shop or a paid class.
Who it’s for
Oklahoma City-area growers at any level. Monthly topics alternate between hands-on nights (bring your own tree and tools and get help from members), “Expanded Show and Tell” nights where “finished or unfinished bonsai” are welcome, and teaching topics such as Bonsai for Beginners (June 2026).
Why it’s listed
