Bonsai Northwest
Category: Nurseries Also called: Bonsai NW; Bonsai Northwest (Puyallup, Washington); bonsainw.com
What it is
Bonsai Northwest is a bonsai nursery in Puyallup, Washington, that sells pre-bonsai stock, finished trees, Satsuki azaleas, pots and supplies. Its history goes back to Sharon Muth’s bonsai pottery in the early 1970s. The shop opened in Tukwila in 1985, John Muth ran it later, and the Tukwila location closed in 2020. Today the nursery is at 10716 State Route 162 E in Puyallup, and the owner is Anthony Pancotti. Its own Square Online store has a working cart and posted prices.

Who it’s for
Pacific Northwest growers who want temperate pre-bonsai and Satsuki azaleas they can see at a long-running nursery, and buyers elsewhere who want to order trees from a real cart with posted prices.
Why it’s listed
It is a working bonsai nursery with a public tree catalog, real prices and a cart on its own domain. Checked on 2026-10-23:
- Shop: the online shop showed 126 items, including trees, pots and supplies.
- Example tree prices: Korean hornbeam $25, katsura $25, dawn redwood $25, European beech $40, Tsukomo cypress $45 (small) or $100 (large), Chinese elm ‘Seiju’ $75, chojubai $125, and Satsuki azaleas from $35 to $125 (for example ‘Kinsai’ at $125).
- Shipping: the home page says “We are now shipping Azaleas!” and notes that the nursery’s in-person selection is larger than what’s online.
- Hours: Wednesday through Sunday, 9:30 AM to 5 PM.
Location
10716 State Route 162 E, Puyallup, Washington 98374. Phone (206) 242-8244.
Notes
- Washington is not new (2 listings so far), but this is a different region from Federal Way. CO, NC and UT (yesterday’s states) were avoided.
- Square quirk: the button on product pages says “Attend” instead of “Add to cart”. It still adds the item to the cart.
- The nursery also runs classes (for example Bonsai 101). This listing covers only the nursery.
- An Oct 7 ship rejected “Bonsai Northwest” because the wrong domain (bonsainorthwest.com) redirects to a domain broker. The real site is bonsainw.com.
- Listing image: the nursery’s own wordmark logo (
Logo website_1637020986.png, 5339×1215 at the source), resized to 1200×273 PNG with transparency and saved asbonsai-northwest-logo.png. It shows on a white background. - Not affiliated with Bonsai Plaza. No purchase, form or contact was made.
