Lucky Bonsai
Category: Nurseries Also called: Lucky Bonsai, Limited; lucky-bonsai.com (Kent, Ohio)
What it is
Lucky Bonsai (Lucky Bonsai, Limited) is a small bonsai nursery at 6987 State Route 43, Kent, Ohio 44240 that sells its own trees through an official Shopify shop with Add to Cart. The home page says it is run by Josh, “a biologist and avid bonsai enthusiast,” and that “all of my bonsai trees are made with care and passion.” The shop sells pre-bonsai seedlings, finished one-of-a-kind (“exact tree”) bonsai, glazed and unglazed bonsai pots, soils, wire and tools. It is a nursery and shop, not a club or a class provider.

Who it’s for
Beginners in northeast Ohio (Kent, Akron, Cleveland) and buyers anywhere in the US who want inexpensive pre-bonsai or a specific, photographed bonsai tree from a small grower, plus pots and soil in the same order.
Why it’s listed
It is a first-party bonsai grower with its own shop, a working cart, posted prices and a printed street address. Checked on 2026-10-30:
- Trees in the shop: the “Trees, seedlings, bonsai” collection showed 56 products. Examples in stock: juniper nana pre-bonsai in a 4” pot $14.99; shimpaku juniper pre-bonsai, 1 gallon, from $29.99; Zelkova bonsai in a 6” ceramic pot, about 5–6 years old, exact tree, $110; Itoigawa juniper bonsai in a 6” unglazed pot, about 3–4 years old, exact tree, $160; Japanese maple bonsai in an 8” ceramic pot, about 10 years old and grown from seed, exact tree, $275. Several other trees were marked sold out.
- Supplies: the tools and supplies collection listed 31 items, including bonsai wire (1 kg, $22.99), akadama ($32.99), Kanuma ($49.99), Hyuga pumice ($39.99), lava rock, a premixed bonsai soil ($27.99), cut paste and Kaneshin scissors. Glazed and unglazed pots are sold separately.
- Shipping: the shipping policy says rates are calculated by weight, box size and location through USPS, UPS or FedEx.
- Returns: the refund policy offers a 30-day return window on items in original condition; the buyer pays return shipping.
- Care help: the site’s Care Instructions menu has one-page care sheets for the species it sells (dwarf Chinese elm, Fukien tree, ginseng and tiger bark ficus, juniper, Japanese maple, Zelkova and others).
Location
6987 State Route 43, Kent, Ohio 44240-6130. The home page says “Hours vary. Please call or text before you stop”: 330-475-6632.
Notes
- Finn flags: earlier Bonsai Plaza checks passed on this shop (Sep 28: catalog looked pot- and supply-heavy; Oct 22: the domain redirected elsewhere). On 2026-10-30 the domain served the Lucky Bonsai Shopify store directly, and the tree collection (56 items) was larger than the supplies collection (31), so it was reopened. The site-wide banner still advertises the Cleveland Asian Festival “May 16-17” with no year, and the menu’s Events link returned 404; neither is cited. One product URL slug is a placeholder (
untitled-jan7_17-49) for the Itoigawa juniper, and the site spells it “Itoigowa.” There are no fixed public hours. Customer reviews quoted on the home page come from Etsy and eBay sales; this listing cites only the official site. - Geography: first Ohio nursery on Bonsai Plaza. The Cleveland Bonsai Club (Clubs) and several Ohio Learning listings are separate organizations.
- Listing image: the shop’s own “Lucky Bonsai” logo (tree in a blue pot with wordmark), served from its Shopify store as
Logo.jpgand saved aslucky-bonsai-logo.png. - Not affiliated with Bonsai Plaza. No order, cart, form or contact was made.
