Underhill Bonsai — Folsom, LA nurseries

What it is

Underhill Bonsai is a first-party, full-service bonsai nursery / retail shop in Folsom, Louisiana (north shore of Lake Pontchartrain), with an official online store at underhillbonsaistore.com and a companion site / blog at underhillbonsai.com that calls it “Louisiana’s Premier Bonsai Nursery.” The About page says it grows, sells and brokers pre-bonsai and specimen bonsai “at all levels from entry to serious collector,” sells its own Underhill line (soil, fertilizer, cut paste, wound seal, fungicide, insecticide), tools, wire and pots, and offers repotting, styling, monthly maintenance and irrigation installs. The Plants page says it is licensed by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry as a Nursery Grower, produces most plants in-house (mostly from cuttings, some from seed) and field-grows them on a 10-acre site before lifting them into containers. Nursery manager Evan Pardue (practicing bonsai since 2010) has shown Louisiana native trees at the US National Bonsai Exhibition. It is not a membership club and not a botanic-garden tuition desk.

Who it’s for

Gulf Coast and US hobbyists who want a grower-retailer with printed shop prices on live bonsai stock, from $50–$75 nursery-stock starters to four-figure specimen trees, and people near New Orleans / the Northshore who want to visit a working nursery during posted hours. It is especially relevant for growers interested in Southeast natives such as bald cypress and water elm, which the nursery’s blog covers in depth. People looking only for Amazon-style third-party listings should look elsewhere: this is the nursery’s own storefront.

Why it’s listed

This is a first-party grower-retailer. It has an official shop with on-page dollar prices and cart paths, tree categories (Specimen Bonsai, Pre-Bonsai, Yamadori Pre-Bonsai, Nursery Stock) as the primary merchandising, a printed street address with weekly walk-in hours, and a state nursery-grower license claim. It is not a scraped directory card, not an Amazon storefront, and not supplies-only.
